Join renowned
author, literary and cultural critic Edmund White and
distinguished writer Francine du Plessix Gray, as they
discuss the subjects of their new biographies: Rimbaud: The Double
Life of a Rebel,
and Madame de Staël: The First Modern Woman (Atlas & Co.). Though
living in different times, Arthur Rimbaud and Madame
de Staël both chose rebellious
paths and left an indelible mark on French and Western
literature.
During this lively dialogue, both White and du Plessix Gray will recount the gripping
lives of these literary rebels, as well as discuss their decisions to present
them to a modern audience.
Discussion will be moderated by Lorin
Stein, senior
editor at Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
Mr. Stein is also known for his translation
of Grégoire
Bouillier's memoir L'Invité mystère / The Mystery Guest.
A book signing with the two authors will follow the discussion. |
