Jean-Christophe Meurisse, 2016. 89 min. DCP VOSTA.
With Céline Fuhrer, Thomas Scimeca, Maxence Tual.
In French with English subtitles.
Two grown men and a woman walk into city hall wearing bridal gowns and demand to be married. From there, the troublemaking trio roams from Paris to Corsica, wreaking havoc at job interviews and apartment visits, performing inept bank robberies and home invasions, and eventually getting their wish in a wedding bacchanal complete with wrestling displays and an opera-singing officiant.
Leading French theater director Jean-Christophe Meurisse makes his film debut with this sidesplitting absurdist takedown of every institution in sight, conjuring the ghosts of Ionesco and Buñuel to invent an urgent form of poetic satire.
Series curated by Delphine Selles-Alvarez and Léonore Chastagner.
