About Young Audience
Two powerhouse French performers—stage actor Nicolas Bouchaud and acclaimed cellist Sonia Wieder Atherton—join forces to perform an imaginative, musical rendition of Hans Christian Anderson’s treasured fairytale The Emperor and the Nightingale.
The pair mix sounds from bells and all manners of music to tell the story of an emperor who tries to replace the love of a nightingale with a glittering mechanical bird.
FIAF’s Young Audience Program is an active education outreach initiative providing school groups with the opportunity to attend entertaining and educational events selected for their artistic excellence and connection to French and Francophone cultures.
FIAF provides a study guide for each event and invites groups to participate in a post-performance discussion with the artists. Knowledge of French is not necessary to enjoy these events.
FREE for public schools and affordable for others, these events are open only to school groups.
