Events Management Intern

Position Summary: The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) Events management team seeks an intern for 6-8 weeks (to start asap).

The person will be able to work alongside and observe the work of our Events & Rentals department. Which produces an average of 400 events per year. An excellent opportunity for young professionals seeking an experience to gain valuable experience and confidence working with a state-of-the-art theater complex, multiple venues, and hundreds of various events.

Main responsibilities:

  • Compile and enter contact data from multiple channels into a singular usable database.
  • Seek out contact information using internet tools and calling corporate offices.
  • Organize and upkeep of our master schedule of events.
  • Data entry of P&L for rental and FIAF events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in business or equivalent
  • Comfortable cold-calling and writing emails.
  • Proficient in excel, spreadsheets, data entry.
  • Comfortable with business software and/or sales databases (experience with salesforce is a HUGE plus)
  • Personable, friendly and confident.
  • Reputation for integrity.
  • Bonus points for Theater, Theater management and/or Arts management.

English Language Instructor

Designation: Part-Time with Flexible Hours
Hours: Should be available 9am-9pm on weekdays and 9am-5pm on Saturdays

Position Summary: To meet the needs of French speaking expatriates living in the United States, the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) has developed a program to improve verbal and written English skills quickly and effectively. FIAF offers one-on-one and group (2-3 students) private English lessons for adults, kids (ages 5-10) and teens (ages 11-17) from beginner to advanced levels, including native-speakers. FIAF is looking for an enthusiastic teacher of English as a Foreign Language to teach English language and culture to expatriate employees of French companies, young children, and teens. The teacher will plan, implement and assess lessons and will teach with patience and creativity. The teacher will be asked to teach at FIAF's Manhattan center, online, or in the offices and houses of the students around Manhattan.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct placement test to assess students‘ initial English level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
  • Design and follow a complete teaching plan about English language and culture
  • Organize learning material and resources
  • Use a variety of activities and instructional methods relevant to the audience to stimulate the learning process and the students’ abilities
  • Assess students’ performance and progress to ensure they are mastering the skills on regular basis
  • Monitor students’ interactions in the classroom (for semi-private lessons) and nurture cooperation and sharing
  • Cooperate with administration staff
  • Follow and comply with FIAF teaching standards

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Native English-speaker and ability to communicate clearly in English
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree
  • Must hold a qualified English Language Teaching Certificate, such as TEFL, TESL, TESOL, TKT, CELTA, etc.
  • 5 year-experience as a teacher of English as a foreign language
  • Works effectively with students, colleagues, and staff in an international environment that promotes learning and multicultural understanding
  • Can follow a prescribed curriculum while being creative and flexible to meet individual students’ learning needs
  • Keep abreast with the latest trends and best practices, including the latest education theories and practices in the field of foreign language teaching
  • Excellent knowledge of the French and Francophone cultures
  • Teaching and organization skills
  • Patience and flexibility
  • Strong communication skills

Le ou la candidat(e) doit :

  • Avoir une expérience de l’enseignement à des enfants et /ou des adolescents et/ou des adultes dans un même établissement pendant une durée minimale de 6 mois.
  • Etre diplômé(e) en français langue étrangère (Master FLE, DAEFLE ou équivalent) ou en tant que maître des écoles.
  • Etre dynamique, enthousiaste, consciencieux (se), créatif (ve), formé(e) aux nouvelles technologies, bon sens du relationnel avec les étudiants, les enfants et les parents, ouvert(e) au travail en équipe.
  • Etre disponible en semaine et le samedi (emploi rémunéré à l’heure)
    • En journée de 9h30 à 17h30 pour les enfants.
    • Essentiellement en soirée de 17h45 à 21h pour les adultes (mais aussi en journée à partir de 9h30).
    • Le samedi de 9h30 à 16h30

Dans tous les cas, les candidats doivent être :

  • De langue maternelle française.

FIAF Montclair is looking for enthusiastic teachers of French as foreign language to teach French language and culture to young children, teens and adults. The teacher will plan, implement and assess lessons and will teach with patience and creativity. FIAF Montclair is a branch of the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) in Manhattan offering language-learning programs for adults, toddlers (ages 1-4), kids (5-10) and teens (11-17) from beginner to advanced levels, including French for native-speakers.
