Festival Pass

What do I get with the festival pass?

The $20 Festival Pass—available for purchase here—allows you to stream all the feature films, shorts programs, TV specials, and web series presented during Animation First. Standalone tickets are not available for these programs.

Live talks, augmented and virtual reality programs, online exhibitions, and workshops are available for free.

Can I transfer my festival pass to someone else?

Yes! Please email fiafnews@fiaf.org with the name and email address of the person you would like to transfer your pass to. Please note that a pass can only be transferred if it has not been used to watch any films.

I’ve purchased multiple festival passes – will I be able to use them all?

You will only be able to use one pass per email address. Email fiafnews@fiaf.org and we can help you transfer your extra pass to an alternate email address, or to a family member or a friend.

Virtual Festival Platform

What platform will the festival be held on?

Animation First 2021 will stream on Eventive. Access Festival site here.

Do I need to create an account on Eventive?

Yes. You need your own account on Eventive to access Animation First. An account is created when you purchase a festival pass or when you RSVP for free events.

How do I use my festival pass on Eventive?

Log into Eventive with the same credentials you used to purchase the festival pass. Select the film or event you would like to stream. Click on “Unlock now for free”. Your pass benefits will be automatically applied.

What devices can I use to watch the films?

You can access the festival on PCs, Macs, Android tablets and phones, iPads and iPhones, Apple TV, Roku, and Chromecast. Find more information, including instructions and system requirements, here.

Streaming Films

Where can I find my unlocked films?

Visit the Animation First site on Eventive, log into your account, click on your initials in the top right corner, and then click on “My content library”. You will find your unlocked films there. Add items to your library via the Festival Program page.

Can I watch the films from anywhere in the world?

No. You must be physically in the United States to stream the feature films, shorts, TV specials, and web series.

Can I stream films on multiple devices at the same time?

No. You are able to log in to your account only on one device at a time. You may switch between multiple devices throughout the festival but once you start watching on a new device, the stream on the old device will cut off.

How long will I have access to each film?

On the Animation First site on Eventive, each film’s page states its “Watch Window”. You may unlock a film and start watching it anytime from Feb 5–15*. However, once you’ve started watching a film, you have a limited amount of time to finish it. This time varies between 24 to 72 hours depending on the film.

*You must start watching Calamity Jane between 7pm–12am ET on Fri, Feb 5; and Bambi between 6pm ET Fri, Feb 12 to 6pm ET Sun, Feb 14.

Can I rewind and start over?

Yes, you have complete access to a film during its “Watch Window”. This time-frame is listed on the film’s  page and varies between 24 to 72 hours. Once your watch window ends, you will not be able to access the film again.

Will I be able to watch the films without an internet connection?

No. It is not possible to download the films and watch them offline. You must be connected to the internet to stream content on Eventive.

Navigating Shorts Programs

Can I watch the shorts in any order?

Yes. The shorts programs are set up as separate playlists. For example, there are 10 films in the Family Friendly Shorts playlist. Unlocking one film in the playlist will unlock all of them. You can then watch them in any order.

Click on the film’s name in the playlist on the page. Click “Watch now”. If you stop watching a film half-way, and switch to a new film, select the “Restart from beginning” option. “Resume watching” will play the previous incomplete film. Another way to navigate the playlist is from within the video player pop-up via the thumbnails that appear in the top right corner.

Livestreaming Talks

Can I watch the talks from anywhere in the world?

Yes. The LIVE discussions will be accessible worldwide.

Can I reserve a spot for a livestream?

On the Animation First site on Eventive, select the desired live talk. Click on “Pre-order now” to reserve your spot. A link to the Zoom webinar will be sent via email on the day of the talk. You can also find the talk and its Zoom link under your content library which is accessible via your initials in the top right corner of your Eventive account.

How do I watch a livestream?

On the Animation First site on Eventive, select the desired live talk. Click “Enter livestream” at the designated time. A link to the Zoom webinar will appear in a pop-up window. Click that link to enter the livestream. A countdown clock on the livestream window will let you know when it will start.

Can I watch a livestream after it is over?

Yes, livestreams (excluding works in progress talks) will be recorded and made available for the duration of the festival through February 15.
