Speak French from day one and build a solid foundation in the French language! The authentic resources and real world tasks used in this course will introduce you to the structure and use of an everyday French. You’ll learn to understand and use familiar expressions and very basic phrases in order to interact with others at the beginner’s level.

With engaging multimedia activities, texts, and course books, you’ll be able to express, as well as justify your likes, dislikes, and preferences. Culturally, you will explore different French websites, Francophone professionals, French pastimes, and more. At the end of this class, you will be able to participate in basic conversations about the above themes as they pertain to your own life.

Beginner A1 level consists of 4 sub-levels: Level A1.1, Level A1.2, Level A1.3, and Level A1.4.
Level A1.2 is the second sub-level of the Beginner A1 level.
Level A1.2 is further split into Part 1 and Part 2 for the leisurely track.

This class is HyFlex
Hyflex gives you the flexibility to learn in person or online. In-person students can switch to attending class online at any time by requesting virtual access from their teacher. Watch the video.

Montclair Safety Measures
Masks now optional inside FIAF Montclair except in the à petits pas Excellence program. Anyone who wishes to wear a mask can continue to do so. Students 18 years old and older attending classes in person at FIAF Montclair are required to present proof of COVID-19 vaccination on the first day of class or show proof of a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or rapid test) taken within 72 hours before each class. Vaccination requirement is only met when the vaccine shot (both shots for a two-dose vaccine) has been administered at least 14 days before the first class.
