Join us for two series of travel workshops and gain insights, tips, and advice for your next Francophone trip!

  • Journey through Morocco! — Wed, from 10am–12pm — Jan 12, 19, 26 • Feb 2, 9

    Learn about Morocco’s history, traditions, the protectorate, its languages, and of course the wonderful unique cuisine, music, and fashion.

    Wed, Jan 12 from 10am–12pm — Morocco’s History and Languages
    On our first stop, we are going to learn about Morocco’s history, how the monarchy was built, what about the colonization? and the Moroccan Jews? What are the 5 spoken languages in Morocco? By the end of this workshop, you will have received an introduction and brief history of this fascinating country

    Wed, Jan 19 from 10am–12pm — Cuisine
    On our second stop, we are going to learn about Morocco’s cuisine from North to South. We will dive into couscous, tagines, tea, pastilla, and learn for which occasions we eat these beautiful dishes.

    Wed, Jan 26 from 10am–12pm — Morocco’s Music
    On our third stop, we are going to learn about the vast style of Morocco’s music from North to South. We will dive into the different styles from classical to modern music and discover the most popular bands and Moroccan artists.

    Wed, Feb 2 from 10am–12pm — Morocco’s Traditional Outfits and Fashion
    On our fourth stop, we are going to learn about Morocco’s fashion history and traditional outfits. When do we wear them? How are they made? What is their history? We will learn about the beautiful dresses, henna, shoes, and artisanat.

    Wed, Feb 9 from 10am–12pm — Morocco’s Activists and Feminists
    On our fifth and last stop, we are going to learn about Morocco’s most important feminist figures and activists. Who are they? Are they women, men? Are they religious, secular? What are they fighting for?

  • French Landmarks — Fri, from 5:30–7pm — Feb 11 • Mar 18

    Gain in-depth knowledge of French landmarks and acquire a whole new list of must-see spots for your next trip to France!

    Fri, Feb 11, from 5:30–7pm — The Châteaux and Monuments of France
    This workshop is not just a guided visit of French chateaux and monuments. We will travel through time to discover the history and famous inhabitants of such well known places as Verailles, Fontainebleau, Chambord, Chantilly and the cathedrals of Notre Dame, Chartres, and Reims. We’ll discover the secrets of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Mont St Michel, as well as the fortress of Carcassonne and the Roman ruins in Provence. At the end of this workshop, you’ll be ready to impress the locals with your in-depth knowledge of the French history and culture related to these landmarks!

    Fri, Mar 18, from 5:30–7pm — The Hidden Gems of France
    In this workshop, we will visit parts of France that are often looked-over by both guides and locals. We will tour Île de France (Paris), Alsace, Normandy, Bourgogne, Provence, Loire Valley, Aquitaine, and Corsica to find historical sites, scenic spots, and of course restaurants and wineries. At the end of this workshop, you’ll have a whole new list of must-see spots for your next trip!

Hyflex gives you the flexibility to learn in person or online. In-person students can switch to attending class online at any time by requesting virtual access from their teacher. Watch the video.

Manhattan Safety Measures
Masks are required for everyone over the age of two. Students ages 18 and older attending classes in person at FIAF Manhattan are required to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination on the first day of class. Vaccination requirement is only met when the vaccine shot (both shots for a two-dose vaccine) has been administered at least 14 days before the first class.
