Temporal Perception

March 15–April 11, 2019
FIAF Montclair

FIAF Montclair presents Temporal Perception, a new exhibition by French-Algerian artist Serge Hamad.

Serge Hamad believes that a lens is there to render the essence of one’s vision, not the beauty of a subject, otherwise it’s just a snapshot. In Temporal Perception, each landscape when seen for the first time, at a glimpse, seems to be an entity. The colors and geometric lines form a unit. It’s just when our brain starts to analyze our vision that we understand how the work explores how we lost our childhood.

Serge Hamad started practicing photography at a very young age. In the mid-eighties, he used both video and photography as a media to cover war-zones and inform about sociopolitical situations in Iraq and the Balkans. From 2010, Serge Hamad has dedicated his time mainly to fine art photography. Since then, his work has been exhibited at several galleries in the US as well as internationally in over 18 countries. Venues include the Samsung Art Collection and the Artspace. The Lumas platform represents his work as well as Paddle 8, Artsy, Christie’s London, and Robert Wilson’s Water Mill Foundation.

Meet the artist and enjoy a glass of wine at the opening reception on Friday, March 15, from 6-7pm. Reception will be followed by a special Francophonie edition of Rendez-Vous from 7-9pm.
