On Sunday June 21, celebrate Fête de la Musique / Make Music Day with FIAF!
Twenty francophone artists from a variety of genres—jazz, soul, pop, house, and hip hop—will take over the Bandsintown platform’s livestream channel to perform half-hour sets.
Fête de la Musique, the music-for-all initiative, originated in France but is now celebrated every year in squares and streets around the world during the summer solstice.
On June 21, 1982, musicians took to the streets of Paris to make music for the first Fête de la Musique. Since then, it has become a global tradition spreading to 120 countries. Performers of a range of levels and styles turn public spaces into music venues in a collaborative and joyful spirit. This celebration unites people and supports equality, diversity, and love for one another.
This year, amid unprecedented challenges to in-person live music performances, the day will take on a new digital form. The spirit of coming together to make or savor live music remains unstoppable. All donations will go to the participating artists, as well as to charities that support social justice, including the NAACP.
