As part of FIAF’s Bastille Day festivities, join us for an exuberant virtual dance party celebrating the songs and steps of West Africa. Break out your best traditional and urban moves! Kids are invited to dress up in their favorite party clothes.
Inspired by La Sape subcultures of West Africa, dancer and choreographer Jean-Paul Mehansio invites kids to put on their best party clothes to cut a rug at home in an energizing and galvanizing exploration of West African culture. Specially adapted for Zoom, this virtual demonstration—accompanied by music—of African movements in an interactive experience of cultural discovery, will teach kids and parents traditional and more contemporary urban dances to driving beats.
Clear some space in your living room and be ready to join the fun!
