Following an arduous journey through Europe, Belarusian emigrant, Aleksei (Franz Rogowski) arrives in Paris only to be placed in training at the French Foreign Legion. Willing to go to great lengths to obtain a passport, he attempts to remain unnoticed until he encounters Jomo (Morr N’Diaye) in the Niger River Delta who is fighting oil multinationals that have made village life impossible for him and his family.
