Starring Annaleigh Ashford, Jordan Boatman, Arnie Burton, Kelley Curran, Carson Elrod, Mark Linn-Baker, Ryan McCartan and Lorenzo Pisoni.
Molière’s beloved comedy follows Monsieur Argan, a severe hypochondriac. Argan’s nonexistent illnesses blinds him to the conmen and women—including his new wife—preying on his fears to fatten their purses. When his plan to marry his daughter to a doctor (thereby securing free lifetime healthcare) goes awry, Argan is forced to confront how narcissistic and oblivious his disorder has made him. Newly translated by Mirabelle Ordinaire and adapted for Red Bull Theater by Jeffrey Hatcher, The Imaginary Invalid is a brilliant satire of doctors, lawyers, and would-be patients who take self-care to staggering levels of pathological solipsism.
The Imaginary Invalid is presented by the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), in partnership with Red Bull Theater.
This performance is part of Red Bull Theater’s OBIE Award-winning Revelation Reading series, which offers audiences the unique opportunity to experience rarely produced classic plays performed by the finest actors working today.
