It’s finally French filmmaker Justine Triet’s moment to shine with her latest release, Anatomy of a Fall (2023), which earned her international acclaim and awards. But previous to Anatomy, Triet helmed several well-received documentaries and features, including On the Spot (2007) and Solférino (2009), before bursting onto the narrative scene with the comedic drama Age of Panic (2013), which set the tone for the strong female leads, complicated character studies, and the intersection of feminism and genre that would continue to thread through her work. She focused her keen eye on human behavior through the lens of romantic comedy with her next film, In Bed with Victoria (2016), followed by Sibyl (2019), her unique psychological take on a thriller, which was selected for competition at the Cannes Film Festival, and finally, the 2023 release of the masterful courtroom mystery, Anatomy of a Fall.
