What is TCF-ANF?
As of April 1, 2020, persons wishing to acquire French nationality must attest to their level of spoken and written French as ordered by the French Ministry of the Interior.
TCF ANF (Test de Connaissance du Français pour l’accès à la nationalité française) can be used to meet this requirement.
The TCF ANF is composed of 4 compulsory sections (1 hour 50 min)
• Listening comprehension – 25 minutes
• Individual oral expression – 10 minutes with an evaluator
• Reading comprehension – 45 minutes
• Written expression – 30 minutes
The French embassy wants to see these four sections one your certificate.
You must obtain a B1 level for each of the four sections to qualify.
This test is given at a testing center recognized by the France Education International (former CIEP), such as the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) in New York.
France Education International delivers your certificate through the testing center such as FIAF. Your certificate of “TCF pour l’accès à la nationalité française” is only valid to complete a request for French nationality acquisition. You cannot use it for admission to a French university or to complete your request for emigration to Québec.
