Free Placement Test

The key to mastering a new language and having a wonderful learning experience is starting with a class that is right for you!

New to French? Skip the test and directly register for any Beginner A1 Level 1 class.

Studied French before? Take our quick and easy Placement Test below to ensure that you start at the right level. The test determines your proficiency level—Beginnner (A1), Advanced Beginner (A2), Intermediate (B1), Advanced (B2), or Expert (C1/C2)—in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF), the guideline used internationally to describe the level of fluency achieved by a foreign language learner.

Note: If you are applying for Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF), please take an official French exam: DELF-DALF, TCF TP or TEF Study. FIAF cannot attest your level for TAPIF with this placement test.
