Position Summary: French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) seeks an experienced, highly-organized, and resourceful coordinator for a fast-paced marketing and communications department.

Main Responsibilities:

•Work with the Director of Communications and the Director of Digital Advertising on all integrated marketing and publicity efforts, including email marketing and press outreach for FIAF’s language center, cultural events, and special events
•Maintain calendar and implement social media strategy across all FIAF channels
•Act as inter-departmental trafficker and proofreader to ensure consistency of FIAF style and brand messaging across all print, web, video, and digital assets
•Manage and cultivate partnerships to increase visibility for FIAF, including school outreach, promotional programs, and trades with similar organizations
•Monitor and maintain press coverage and media lists using press contact database
•Coordinate photo/video needs for the department and maintain archive for both

Qualifications:

A minimum of 2 years of proven successful experience in marketing or public relations is preferred. The individual must also possess excellent writing and presentation skills with a strong eye for details. The ideal candidate is a reliable self-starter with an ability to take initiative and follow through with measurable results. The individual must be able to make timely and quality decisions based on a mixture of analysis, wisdom, humor, and good judgement, and must be able to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent human relations skills are a must, as is the ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment.  French language skills are ideal, though not required.

Position Summary: The Executive Assistant provides administrative support and assistance to the President. This position provides a unique, top-down view of how a cultural non-profit operates and requires close collaboration with all department heads (Marketing, Cultural Programs, Language Center, Development, Membership, Finance).

Responsibilities:
Executive Office Support
• Screen all communications for the President and draft correspondence in French and English: emails, presentations, speeches and Thank you.
• Coordinate and disseminate information as pertaining to other departments regarding donor meetings, phone calls and/or correspondence
• Manage executive office calendar, including regular scheduling of internal and external meetings and conference calls, and minute taking
• Maintain contacts in President’s personal outlook database and in Raiser’s Edge
• Copy-write and prepare FIAF’s Annual Report
• Assist with a significant number of cultivation events including Galas and other VIP events.

Board Support

Department: Venue Rentals

The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) Rentals team seeks an intern for the period of one semester or up to one year (to start ASAP).

The intern will support the Rentals team in their operations, outreach and with the creation of strategic materials. This internship is an excellent opportunity for young professionals seeking experience and growth in sales, event and project management.

FIAF’s mission is to create and offer New Yorkers innovative and unique programs in education and the arts that explore the evolving diversity and richness of French cultures. FIAF presents Cinema, Performing Arts, Visual Arts and social event programs. FIAF is also home to the leading, private French library in the U.S. and is the only language school in New York solely dedicated to teaching French. FIAF also specializes in premier venue rental activities and events management. We currently boast 3 venues including Florence Gould Hall (premier theater), Tinker Auditorium (screening and reception space) and Le Skyroom (spacious reception/dining space). Our Rentals Department works on customized venue and catering packages for clients ranging from fellow not-for-profit organizations to well-known corporate clients. We organize an average of 400 events per year such as corporate town meetings, movie premieres, galas and receptions, conferences and more.

Main Responsibilities :

  • Support the day-to-day communications with (potential) clients to facilitate timely responses and interactions (via phone, email, etc.)
  • Establish rental quotes in co-operation with the Events and Sales Manager.
  • Assist with the monitoring and prioritization of event requests by keeping the rentals database up-to-date with the latest information (latest exchanges by phone, email, etc.)
  • Compile and enter contact data from multiple channels into a singular usable database.
  • Research contact information using internet tools and phoning corporate offices.
  • Organize our master schedule of events using our rentals and events software.
  • Prepare materials for social media and digital marketing platforms.
  • Conduct outreach efforts with new and potential clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or similar.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Should be at ease with making cold-calls and corresponding with clients via email.

Job Title: Language Center Operations Assistant

The FIAF Language Center is the largest language school dedicated to teaching the French language in the tri-state area. With more than 8,000 registrations annually, we offer French in two convenient locations: Manhattan’s Upper East Side and Montclair, NJ.

Position Summary: The Language Center Operations Assistant will be on the frontlines of customer service for the FIAF Language Center.  S/he will be knowledgeable in all Language Center activities (group classes, private lessons, corporate lessons, exams, preschool) and be able to confidently reply to any customer or potential client.  S/he will look for patterns in these interactions in order to help improve communication with students as well as the Language Center’s own operations.  The hours for this position are Monday-Thursday 9am-3:30pm and Saturday 9am-5pm, at our Manhattan location.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome clients and students, answer all questions they may have.
  • Answer questions by phone and email promptly.
  • Register students in person or by phone.
  • Keep students informed of any changes, such as class cancellations or room changes.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as preparing class rosters, certificates of completion for students, etc.
  • Assist Language Center colleagues as needed.
  • Maintain a neat and welcoming reception area.

Position Summary: The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) Preschool, a French immersion program, taught entirely in French, for toddlers ages 2.5 and 4.5 is looking for a full-time (8:30am- 4:30pm) assistant teacher, starting August 26, 2019, who will be responsible for assisting with the planning and implementing of developmentally-appropriate activities designed to promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth in preschool children.

The FIAF Preschool is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Our mission is to provide a joyful entry into French language and culture, combining the best of the école maternelle and American preschool experience to help each child reach his/her full potential.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist head teacher in the implementation of the curriculum.
  • Provide for the physical safety of children through anticipation and removal of dangers, observation of children at play or at rest, and by appropriately responding to injuries.
  • Help children with daily tasks and activities.
  • Help children with transitions and foster their autonomy.
  • Replace head teacher when necessary.
  • Respect school’s philosophy and policies.

Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must be 21, native French speakers with a proficiency level of English, have a high school diploma with some college credits (Bachelor’s degree with some education or early childhood credits preferred), and/or a DOH-approved study plan, and 1 year of comparable experience (French immersion or bilingual program).

The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), New York’s premier destination for French language and culture, seeks volunteer assistants for its summer camp programs for toddlers (ages 3 & 4), kids (ages 5 to 10) and Teens (ages 11 to 14).

Program Duration:
Jun 17 to Aug 9, 2019 from 9:30am-4:30pm (2 weeks minimum)

Main Responsibilities

Our assistants are passionate about kids’ education and about sharing language and cultural experiences. The ideal candidates will have the following:

  • An intermediate to advanced level of spoken French, sufficient to understand and speak with children, teachers, and parents without relying on English
  • Be 16 years old or more (high school, college, graduate student)
  • Interest and experience working with kids (babysitting, camp counselor, nanny, au pair…)

Daily activities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Prepare the classroom with the teacher before class
  • Welcome parents and kids to class
  • Play with children during the free play period
  • Assist the teacher with the organization of classroom activities
  • Provide individual help to children
  • Accompany children to field trips
  • Help the teacher maintain a proper learning atmosphere

Position Summary: To meet the needs of French speaking expatriates living in the United States, the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) has developed a program to improve verbal and written English skills quickly and effectively. FIAF offers one-on-one and group (2-3 students) private English lessons for adults, kids (ages 5-10) and teens (ages 11-17) from beginner to advanced levels, including native-speakers. FIAF is looking for an enthusiastic teacher of English as a Foreign Language to teach English language and culture to expatriate employees of French companies, young children, and teens. The teacher will plan, implement and assess lessons and will teach with patience and creativity. The teacher will be asked to teach at FIAF’s Manhattan center, online, or in the offices and houses of the students around Manhattan.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct placement test to assess students‘ initial English level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
  • Design and follow a complete teaching plan about English language and culture
  • Organize learning material and resources
  • Use a variety of activities and instructional methods relevant to the audience to stimulate the learning process and the students’ abilities
  • Assess students’ performance and progress to ensure they are mastering the skills on regular basis
