The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), is looking for a full-time Preschool Teacher for its Preschool, an immersion French program designed for toddlers and preschoolers (ages 2 ½ to 4.5). The teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities designed to teach French, while promoting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth in toddler and preschool-aged children.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Foster enthusiasm for active participation in the learning process.

9. Actively seek opportunities for professional development in early childhood education.
10. Ensure the physical safety of children through anticipation and removal of hazards, visual observation of children active or at rest, and by appropriately responding to potential injuries.
11. Work in a team, share information, and build positive working relationships.
12. Actively support the school’s philosophy and community and enforce its policies.
13. Integrate meaningful and appropriate use of technology within the curriculum.

Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must:
1) Be fluent in English
2) Be a native speakers (or have an equivalent level) of French,
3) Have a baccalaureate in early childhood education and valid certification issued by the New York State Education Department
4) Must have at least two years of experience in a preschool setting of which at least one year in a French immersion program.
5) All candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S for any employer.

Position Summary:

FIAF is looking for a Development Coordinator to be an integral part of our dynamic and energetic development and special events team.
Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Development and Strategy, s/he will support the annual fund and project-based activity of the department. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the arts and show a genuine interest in gaining experience in development and fundraising in a vibrant non-profit cultural organization.

Principal responsibilities:

• Carrying out prospect research (corporate sponsors, institutional giving)
• Producing sponsorship proposals and donor reports
• Assisting with grant management and reporting
• Coordinating the year-round operations of FIAF’s Corporate Member program and the expansion of the individual corporate membership base
• Acting as the key point person for individual Corporate Member queries and enrollment
• Ensuring proper donor recognition on communication materials
• Contact, donation and prospect entry into Raiser’s Edge database
• Timely and accurate acknowledgement of all gifts
• Donor cultivation and stewardship

Qualifications:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and exercise good judgment and initiative.
• Detail-oriented
• Proficiency with basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
• Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge database or another constituent database preferred.
• Knowledge of French required
• Positive attitude, team player, sense of humor

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.

Position available: Box office / Library agent, part-time, 15-20 per week regular hours with the possibility of up to 29 hours per week depending on event demand.

Description: FIAF seeks a personable and reliable person to fill a new hybrid Box Office / Library agent position for 15-20 hours a week to sell tickets for its 3 venues: Florence Gould Hall, Tinker Auditorium and Le Skyroom as well as conduct library transactions for its 30,000 volume lending library. The Haskell Library will also act as an additional point of sale for ticketed events. FIAF is a Not-For-Profit Organization comprised of a language school, library and venue for a mix of French cultural events including cinema, live theatre, opera, dance, lectures and book signings (see www.fiaf.org for an overview).

Schedule: Most scheduling will be in the afternoon to evening (Tues-Fri) and Saturday daytime, but the successful candidate should be flexible with day and weekend hours as required, as the event schedule varies. Occasional Sunday or Monday may be required.

Library duties will include but are not limited to:

• Accepting returned materials
• Checking out materials
• Registering members for new library accounts
• Reshelving of returned materials
• Room maintenance (pushing in chairs, clearing tables, refilling promotional literature)
• Selling electronic tickets to events via TM1 Sales

Box office duties will include:

• Selling tickets over the phone or at window
• Various administrative tasks
• Closing out sales at the end of day
• Submitting daily sales report

Qualifications:
• Ideal candidates will be kind, customer service driven, reliable, responsible, detail oriented and able to work independently.
• Excellent phone and computer skills a must (Excel, Word and Zoom; training will be given on Ticketmaster HOST/TM1 Sales, Portfolio Circulation library software and Raiser’s Edge database). Prior knowledge of any of these software programs a plus.

FIAF Montclair is looking for enthusiastic teachers of French as foreign language to teach French language and culture to young children, teens and adults. The teacher will plan, implement and assess lessons and will teach with patience and creativity. FIAF Montclair is a branch of the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) in Manhattan offering language-learning programs for adults, toddlers (ages 1-4), kids (5-10) and teens (11-17) from beginner to advanced levels, including French for native-speakers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and follow a complete teaching plan about French language and culture
  • Organize learning material and resources
  • Use a variety of activities and instructional methods relevant to the audience to stimulate the learning process and the students’ abilities
  • Assess students’ performance and progress to ensure they are mastering the skills on regular basis
  • Monitor students’ interactions in the classroom and nurture cooperation and sharing
  • Cooperate with administration staff
  • Follow and comply with FIAF teaching standards
  • Assist in the development and organization of educational, cultural and social activities to help grow the FIAF members’ community in its Montclair, NJ location
  • Participate in development and collaboration for events within and outside of FIAF to attract new students and members

Qualifications:
